Back in the 1920's, Steinway was churning out pianos at the absolute height of the piano market without any of the cost-cutting and industry consolidation that could come into play in the ensuing decades, and all built from the oral tradition of its artisans. ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how much work goes into a Steinway piano. But it's no surprise when thinking of the sound and touch that comes out as a result. I had the privilege of playing on a Steinway as well and I can say that it's not easy to compare it to many other pianos.
