Wendy Stevens at ComposeCreate has stumbled on a brilliant incentive program for her students: issue citations for instances of both good and bad musicianship in an effort to cultivate musicality in her studio. These are the cards she uses:

What do you use for incentives in your studio?
For positive reinforcement on the fly, I'll have the student play their awesomest piece for mom/dad/grandpa at the end of the lesson... Also, letting them know that there's a greater chance of having improvisation games, or a little CD listening time, if we can actually get through their pieces without too much hassle.
