1962 Performance of Van Cliburn Playing Brahms 2 in USSR w/ Kondrashin
The height of the cold war was a time of some fantastic performances--here's a video of Van Cliburn playing the first movement of the Brahms 2nd Piano Concerto with a batonless Kiril Kondrashin conducting an unnamed Soviet orchestra (probably the Moscow Philharmonic, with whom he recorded the work
, but correct me if that's not the case).
