Leading vs. Following

For collaborative pianists, the act of leading vs. following is a delicate dance of acting and reacting, listening and prodding. Take a look at Michael Hughes' analysis of a spontaneous dance at the Sasquatch Music Festival, which shows that it isn't at all clear whether the one who starts the dance or the first few followers are the ones who create such a huge mass of bodies by the end of the video:
