6-hand Piano Arrangement of ABBA's Mamma Mia

Kudos to Nhat-Viet Phi (aka Toto) for writing an awesome 6-hand arrangement of ABBA's Mamma Mia, performed at Théâtre Escaouette for the 2010 University of Moncton Summer Camp. At the piano are Juliane Gallant, Nicolas Richard, and Toto (also handling the page turns most adroitly), with Étienne Levesque on drums.

(Update 2016-10-10) You can now download Toto's arrangement! Here's the link.

  1. Hey, hey, cool! Many thanks to my former classmate Chris for posting the video!

Small correction: that is Juliane *Gallant* on Piano I. :-) More information available on the parent YouTube link. (also more info on the semi-private run-through video, posted earlier via the same account)

This was great fun, and I hope to have performer resources available for my next couple of 6-hand pop projects...

  4. Fun piece! It would make a great piece for a senior high school recital.

  6. To Li'l Ned: Believe me, I'm not the only person who wants this score out ASAP as a viable commercial entity! I hope to hear from someone at the apparent copyright holder's office sometime this week, as I have left a phone message... but it was only at the main switchboard voicemail.

"Hi having heard this twice I'd like to say I don't actually find this very pianistic - maybe that is harder to do with piano six hands, but for example there seemed very little interchange between the three players, few arpeggios, few glissandi. Perhaps you were aiming for something else. Anyway, thanks. "

Perhaps you've confused "Mamma Mia" with "Dancing Queen." :-) By all means, feel free to illustrate your own version of "Mamma Mia" with arpeggi and glissandi inserted for the mere fun of it.

Coincidentally, "Dancing Queen" is also on my To-Do arrangement list. And Petroushka arguably isn't very pianistic, but pianists far more serious than I play it anyway.

  9. Hi everybody! Sorry to have taken so long, but I did want to say that I've finally been in tangible contact with the two joint rights holders for the original Mamma Mia song. If any viewers or commenters are still interested in the Mamma Mia arrangement, I have drawn up a draft list of terms for people interested in an advance release. Please E-mail me for more details. Thanks!
