This desolate picture was taken in the ruins of the Lee Plaza Hotel ballroom in Detroit.

I live near the Detroit area and it is photos like this that leave me sad. Detroit has come so far - and some of the buildings that have been saved are so beautiful - like the Fox Theater and Orchestra Hall. Other buildings and areas are being either restored or re-done currently - like Book-Cadillac and the new walk on the Riverfront. But we have so far to go.
